Maintaining a healthy population is a priority for every nation. With HIV/AIDS there is a need to generate a preventative mindset. There is also a need for education and awareness programmes. Mayflower will implement a range of programmes for employee family education, health worker training, school based education and community based education. Additionally, HIV testing and counselling services that tie into the programmes will be implemented. Government is better placed to drive treatment and medicine provision.
Mayflower hopes to raise US$800,000 per annum for a period of 5 years to provide HIV/AIDS Education and Awareness programmes in Ebute-Metta. Per annum it is hoped that 8,000 will be helped directly. Due to improved health each person may have 3 months’ more economic activity than otherwise, possibly generating an extra $500 income for their family.
