Mayflower will commence operations with immediate Quick Win programmes that can be implemented in Ebute-Metta so as to make an initial impact that all stakeholders can witness and then endorse.
The Quick Wins will be 6 month programmes that can create initial momentum and attract further funding. Although the Quick Wins will be shorter in duration than the main fully designed programme components they will nonetheless be subject to the same monitoring and evaluation against agreed community development targets.
Some of the candidate programmes for Quick Wins which can deliver in the short term and be continued over the longer term include:
. development of physical community markets . support and development of community based organisations . beautification and rehabilitation of civic facilities . commencing the support of Small Medium & Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) . commencement of a Whole Schools Development (WSD) programme . localised HIV/AIDS education and awareness programme
“People are going to want, and be able, to find out about the citizenship of a brand, whether it is doing the right things socially, economically and environmentally.”
